Name: Fiametta 'Flame Princess' Principessa
Canon: Adventure Time with Finn and Jake

Specialty: Pyrokinesis - but there's a catch. More on that later.
Position: Senior Camper.

Personality: Lots of words have been used to describe Fiametta. 'Hot.' 'Passionate.' 'Evil.' 'Dangerous.' 'Physically unstable.'

The main thing you have to remember about Flame Princess is that she works completely in extremes. One minute, she's calm and cheerful, and the next, she's setting fire to the rain, and maybe even your house, if you're just that unlucky. It's especially hard to tell just when these particular swings are going to happen. Little things can set her off - particularly when things aren't particularly going her way, or the way she planned them.

She's been shown to be sensitive to others, particularly about what others think of her. She makes up her mind about people and situations very quickly, and she sort of expects people to do the same. If someone doesn't have a good opinion of her, or is wishy-washy in the way they present themselves to her, she gets very unhappy very fast, and this often sets off one of her more volatile mood swings.

Another thing to remember about Fiametta's personality is that when she feels a more extreme emotion, her temperature goes up as well. This often results in her hands manifesting flames, or things going up in flames, and she cannot control these reactions. They can happen at any time - from when she's feeling frustrated to even an ecstatic mood, and she cannot turn off the flames once they happen - she has to wait for her emotions to run their course, or have someone help calm her down - she can't do it alone. As such, she's supposed to wear flame-retardant gloves to try to keep at least the part with her hands in check. However, that doesn't mean she always remembers to wear them...

On a possibly more positive note, she's pretty impressionable, even for someone her age. Fiametta is naturally curious about others' lives, being that she spends most of her time not at camp cooped in her house - this causes her to be a bit naive.

AU History: Fiametta Principessa's lived all her life in a single-parent household in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. She's third generation Italian-American, and her father will make no mistake of telling you that. His wife died in childbirth, and he's never gotten over it. And I'm only telling you this because Fiametta's father is one of the central figures in her life.

Starting from when Fiametta was a baby, she'd always been running a slight fever. She had to stay in the hospital a few extra weeks when she was newborn, just so the doctors could run some tests on her. All her other vital signs were normal, and there seemed to be nothing physically wrong with her, aside from that.

Nothing really seemed to come from it until she was a bit older. When she first started going through puberty, that little burning fever of hers turned into something else.

Fiametta was climbing a tree in her backyard, as many young kids do, and scraped her knee on an outstanding piece of bark. She was a little irritated, but she moved on. A few minutes later, however, she slipped on a branch she thought was sturdier than it actually was, and she fell right out of the tree onto the ground.

It wasn't a big fall, but it really hurt.

A few seconds later, bits of the tree went up in flames.

After that little incident, Fiametta hasn't seen much of the world outside her house - something she resents, as she really did enjoy playing outside. Luckily for her father, his 'Flame King Brick Oven Pizza' business was enough to help him homeschool her. He hired tutors in the subjects she was learning in school, so she would not have to leave the house and risk burning up anything else if something particularly bad happened that day. Her father also bought her special flame-retardant gloves so she would not melt anything around the house during an episode - and she does wear them - most of the time. One of her tutors suggested Whispering Rock as a way for Fiametta to learn to control her pyrokinesis and by extension, her emotions, and her father, after doing some intense research to make sure she wouldn't bring any harm to the camp, enrolled her.

Brain World: Fiametta's brain world looks much like the interior of a hollowed-out volcano. It's teeming with lava and fire pools, and is a very active, dangerous place for anyone to walk around unattended and unprotected. When anyone in her Brain World enters, they will begin to burn on sight, unless she finds them and grants them a 'heat shield', as she calls it. In this state, the other person in her brain world will appear with a blue tint.

Her physical self changes a bit, too. Ordinarily, she does have red hair, but it's a muted color - not flaming, as one would expect. In her brain world, she changes into almost a physical manifestation of a flame - with blazing red hair and orange skin that's hot to the touch and can burn people. In her brain world, when she becomes angered, she can change her shape into that of a much larger, monstrous being made entirely of fire.

Badges: Basic Braining, Levitation, Psi Shield. This year, she's going for Clairvoyance, because she's tired of wondering and wondering and trying to figure out what people think of her. She'd much rather just know instantaneously.

You may notice that Pyrokinesis is conspicuously absent from this list - and for good reason. See, even though Fiametta's been going to the camp for so many years, and has taken classes on Pyrokinesis every year, she still has extreme difficulty controlling her flames when she's having an episode, as well as controlling the urge to burn things on sight when these manic episodes are happening. Until she can do that without the help of others, no badge for her.

[Fiametta's lying in her bed, under just a sheet on top of her. She wishes there was a fan in here, because tonight, it's just way too hot, even for her.

She gets up from her bunk to crack a window, padding over to it with bare feet. She pushes it open, and hopes for a breeze.

Nothing. Whoever controlled the weather was not smiling upon the camp today. The boys' cabins smelled more like sweat than usual. She was lucky hers was far enough away from one of theirs that the stench didn't waft over to where she was sleeping. She doesn't think she'd be able to deal with that tonight.

Wiping the sweat off her forehead, she steps outside for a moment. It's past lights out, but she really needs some air. She got so angry before, since she couldn't sleep, that she almost had a moment - but one of her cabin mates managed to talk her out of torching the entire building. She wished she could do that sort of thing by herself.

Frowning at the memory, she shakes her head, opens the door, and goes back inside the cabin. Maybe she'll be able to get at least one hour in.
